Today Monday ', 8 October 2007, the communities' PIME region of Hong Kong - China si e' riunita per l'elezione del nuovo superiore regionale e del suo consiglio.

Abbiamo eletto alla prima votazione padre Franco Cumbo, classe 1946, siciliano nuovo superiore regionale per 4 anni. (Alla mia sinistra nella foto qua accanto!)

Succede a padre Dino Doimo, veneto, dopo 8 anni di servizio nella nostra comunita'. (Alle spalle di padre Cumbo nella foto qua accanto!)

Un immenso grazie a padre Dino per il suo "giusto" servizio nella nostra comunita'. Io ebbi la fortuna di averlo come rettore nel seminario del Pime a Monza (1993-1996). Sono immensamente contento per lui perche' potra' finalmente return to work fully in the midst of the Chinese. Father Dino was a Lump for the celebration of the institution acolytate signed in June 1994. I'll be back 'in 2002 when I visited the Archbishop Monsignor Francesco Cacucci and my family, together with the community' parish of Santa Maria Assunta and Monteverde.

Father Franco Cumbo met him already 'when in 1994 I went to do activity' of mission in the house of PIME Mascalucia, province of Catania. It was 'already' a few years. Il 20 settembre 2000, alle ore 15.15 circa (ora locale di HK) arrivo ad Hong Kong, mia seconda patria e prima patria missionaria. Qua ero stato inviato dal mio amato padre arcivescovo Mariano Magrassi, dalla mia parrocchia di Santa Maria della Pace in Noicattaro, dai parrocchiani di Santa Maria Assunta di Grumo Appula e da quelli di Santa Maria di Monteverde, dagli amici e condiocesani e in particolare dal PIME.

Tanti vennero quel 19 settembre 2000 in aeroporto a salutarmi. Alcuni di loro non ci sono gia' piu'. Tanti altri preferirono non venire, perche' reluctant to departures of others. Someone told me the last time greeting: "Do not turn back."

Seven years have passed and just yesterday I was saying Mass for the beginning of the year celebration for students at elementary school in Saint Paul HK. When I came here, I must proclaim Christ and his Gospel, and I could not even say hello in Chinese. Today, I said yesterday, exactly seven years after I read not only the gospel but I'll explain. We thank the Lord and implore his help, 'cause to be faithful!

But this seventh anniversary, and 'particularly significant. According to local laws, after the seventh year of staying on site, can I apply to become a citizen of HK, with all rights and obligations. 1. all begins with the airport of Bari-Palese. E 'was wonderful to meet my family, starting from my dear parents, my grandmother Rosa (I had left dying in December 2006, in the hospital bed), my sisters and their husbands and then my two little nieces (and Alessia Arianna) really small, my niece Antonella now older, with cousins \u200b\u200bDaniel and Joseph, returned to life after all the mishaps in hospital. And then my uncles and my aunts and some cousins, always there when I return. And then, many other people: my godfather Confirmation commara with Mary's family friends, some friends of Clot, including Bitritto who lives in Milan cheering my expectation, and finally nojani, who always took me to the heart and were always present in my life, even more 'significantly since I left for HK. 2. I did not think I could stand in these three weeks. I was afraid of getting tired a lot, but instead I left ready to resume my work. These were 3 weeks of rest before the whole family. I was always at home, also absorb some of the criticism. I was at home with my mother and father. With my grandmother. With my sisters, their husbands and children, as if we were a family of 15 members. For lunch and dinner almost always together. I really enjoyed my family. Which is not happening to me a long time. I know I have caused no little trouble and inconvenience, but it 's been really good for them too.
   
3. In this way 'brief but intense time, I got to first of all to celebrate the baptisms of Alessandro and Arianna, so' how to administer the first Holy Communion to Joseph. Thank you the Lord for this wonderful opportunity given me so 'thank goodness as Don Michael and Don Franco in allowing me to celebrate these sacraments. In the first and last Sunday, the first in the mother church, my beloved church, and then in the church of Monteverde, I celebrated the baptisms. The first church, I celebrated the baptism of three other children, our parishioners. E 'was great for the first time also distribute communion to my nephew Joseph, who just 10 years ago, in the same church to be baptized.
   
4. The encounter, though brief, with my parishioners, and Don Antonio (Father Michael was not in place!) Has filled my heart.
